Who says you can’t have enough groomsmen, the more the merrier right? Of course!!!! I love this photo, and it’s got attitude written all over it. I love the facial expression of the kid walking out from behind the groom. It’s always nice to see a groom and groomsmen who exude confidence. Most of the time, it takes us guys quite a bit to get loosened up and to feel even a touch comfort when getting our photo taken in a tux, but not these fellas.

If you’ve taken the Nashville Photography Class’s Camera Basics Class with Whitney Carlson of Dove Wedding Photography, then you know how much fun the experience is. The classes are kept small for undivided attention, it’s interactive and completely hands-on, and Whitney is of course an excellent instructor. The next step up from Camera Basics is Whitney’s course in Lighting, Composition, & Posing. This second level class will be held on 2 days at The Dove Wedding Photography studio; April 16th from 10AM to 4PM and on April 17th from 1PM to 4PM. The second course in this series is designed to help you better understand the the skill involved in working with natural light and the importance of composition. The second day will involve an actual photo shoot with both a model as well as a couple. Learn how to instruct and pose while keeping your subjects comfortable and looking natural. Photo critiques will follow the session. The cost of this class is $199 and includes lunch on the first day. You must provide your own camera and lens.

We are excited here at Dove to start this year off with an introduction to a new team member! Chris Foust has been with us for a few months now, working with our new clients and behind the scenes building our web presence. Already his hard work and creativity has helped many of our wonderful brides to be published on several blogs! He has also created even more ways for us here in the office to keep in contact with you through our Facebook and Twitter accounts. You are going to see a lot more of Chris around here, and we know you will love him as much as we do!

Sadly though, there is a second half to our announcement. Audrey, our current studio manager, will be leaving us this year. We can’t imagine Dove without her, but are so excited about the new opportunities that have opened up for her! She will always be family to us, and we will miss her immensely. Chris will have big shoes to fill, but we’re confident in his abilities.

We are looking forward to a new year full of wonderful opportunities that we can’t wait to share and pass on to all of you!

I hope you are enjoying yourself. Whitney and I are on vacation with my family in Minneapolis. We had a great year at Dove Wedding Photography and we can not wait to see what is in store for 2011.

We are very appreciative of all of our brides. This year included some of our favorite weddings yet. Every couple we worked with was so much fun and I hope we will get to stay in touch with each and every one of you.

Thanks to all the wedding vendors that helped produce the amazing weddings we were able to photograph. Many of you have become dear friends over the years. We are greatly blessed to be able to work with such good friends.

Last, but not least, I want to thank the entire Dove Wedding Photography staff! Anybody who has ever work with us will agree how great you are. Audrey, Erin, Morgan, and Chris: 2010 would not have been nearly as good without all of your hard work and amazing attitudes toward all of our clients, other wedding vendors and the rest of the Dove team. Every year I have the opportunity to make a short film with the youth group I work with. Each year our church has a Christmas program full of different kinds of music, stories, and our short film.

Last year’s short film was serious and moody. So, this year I promised the youth we could make a funny one. Our first attempt failed and we had to start over from scratch. One of my volunteer leaders, Allen Salmon, is a songwriter and music producer. He came up with a great idea for a parody on the YouTube hit “Bed Intruder.”

I hope you enjoy this short and it brings you some Christmas cheer.

It’s good to be home! Sooooo much has been going on this summer. I have only been in town 1 to 2 days a week since the start of June. This is the first full week home and (hopefully) the first of many blogs.

If you are a follower of the Dove Wedding Photography Blog, you may remember we posted a photo from a rainy day outdoor wedding. It was a wet and muddy day, but it was so much fun and the rain helped create some of the most gorgeous wedding photography we have captured.

Christal and Michael did not let the tornadoes blowing through their wedding location stress them out. Sneaking a little pre-wedding champaign looks like the only thing that Michael was looking out for.

Wedding days can be stressful, especially if you do not have a supportive group of friends to lighten the day for you. We were very happy to see Christal and Michael’s wedding party go along with their desires to get married in the rain. As you can see by the below images, everyone had a lot of fun.

The fabulous Mary Claire Crow joined Whitney and myself at this wedding and captured the above shot to the right.

Congratulations Christal & Michael! This was for sure one of the best experiences a wedding photographer could have! Especially because I got to sit next to James Best (AKA: Rosco P. Coltrane from The Dukes of Hazard) during my hotel breakfast. No joke!

We hope everyone has been having a great Holday season! We celebrated Christmas in Kansas City this year with Peter’s family, and are just about to hop on a plane back home to Nashville. One thing we learned this season is that our pup Calvin, LOVES Christmas! Everything from the tree, to this tasty raw hide candy cane we gave him. He ate half of this huge thing 30 minutes after we gave it to him! We still have a few more days off and will be back soon!

Boy do Kimberly & Rashad love to have fun! It was no work at all to get them to laugh and giggle which of course makes it easy for us to photograph them. I also love Kimberly’s sense of style and enjoyed being able to coordinate her clothes with where we were going to shoot. Their wedding reception in going to be at Nashville’s Hutton Hotel, so we started there and then just wandered around West End!How can you not love this one!We can’t wait for your wedding!
